Royal Sovereign ARP-9011TL Ultra Compact and Lightweight Portable Air Conditioner

My wife and I purchased this unit because we couldn’t find a suitable window unit to fit our unusual windows in our home. For the price, I expected more, and sadly, a window unit would probably do the job better.
The Good:
- Took nights where the temperature was in the 80’s or above and humid and made it possible to sleep.
- Easy to move around and install.
- Keeps a relatively large room (14 x 14-ish) pretty comfortable.
- Dehumidifies well.
- No odor.
The Bad:
- The end of the exhaust hose is poorly connected with some weak glue. I had to use gorilla glue to make sure it stayed on after it popped off several times.
- Came without a drain stopper, so we had large puddles on our floor several times before they sent us a plug that we had to request.
- Window unit would do a far superior job of cooling and dehumidifying a room.
- Never gets cool or dry enough. Sure, it makes a room’s comfort level passable, but far from comfortable.
- Pretty loud. Unless you can sleep with some background noise, this will cause issues.
- Anyone at Royal Sovereign is very difficult to get in touch with to ask questions.
- Spits water. This happens when the reservoir gets full. Pretty annoying.
- In order to empty the reservoir when it is full, you have to unplug a drain on the bottom of the unit and tilt it. The thing isn’t exactly light, and you’ll likely have to roll it outside or lift it into a tub at least once a day. More than once if it’s particularly humid out.

I purchased this item from Wal Mart and it was delivered two days later (which was way fast). It seems to be a much better AC than the EdgeStar unit I also have. It is much quieter running than the EdgeStar and it pumps out cool air like crazy. The exhaust system on this unit is well designed, and the hose stores inside the body of the unit and then just pulls out to be used. That is very conveinent. The window kit worked really well in one of my windows, but not in another one I had tried first. It really depends of the window I guess, and how square it is. There is none of the hot air seepage problem that I experienced with my Edgestar’s exhaust hose, and the unit has turned out to be a much better unit in general.
Comes with a remote control, has controls on the unit itself so it could be controled with either. (Some units can be worked only with remote, so that is important) It is compact in size, and even though it does not have adjustable air controls like louvers for directing air flow, this unit still pumps out so much air that it really does not seem like they are needed.
